Natural Pigments

Natural pigments are materials sourced from nature, most often from clay, rocks and stones, ground down to a fine powder. To paint with them, I then add walnut oil and mix until it forms a medium thick paste, similar to the texture you would find in a tube of paint.

These pigments can range from vibrant to soft, it can be surprising! I love incorporating these pigments into my work that’s inspired by nature, and have found that a combination between them, and conventional oil paints, give me the most freedom and flexibility to create something truly unique.
