Meet the Artist
Hi! I’m Erin Halla Shakespeare.
Growing up with the forest as my playground, and fantasy stories as my escape, I developed my imagination and inner vision from a young age. My art and design draw from the magic that I’ve always found within nature, and celebrates the body as our home.
I have experienced chronic pain and illness for much of my life, and I alchemize that pain into joy, beauty and celebration within my artwork. My art explores the relationship that we have to our bodies, and how our physicality facilitates our life’s journey.
Since studying Visual Arts and Art History at S.F.U, I have created personal and commercial work that features strong colour and composition, drawing from my personal experiences and nature as sources of inspiration. I've exhibited at Harmony Arts Festival, Gallery George, PoMo Arts Centre, North Vancouver's CityScape, North Van Art's Art Rental, and Slice of Life Gallery.
Artwork
As a versatile artist, I work with a variety of mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel, and surface pattern design, allowing me to bring a rich, diverse approach to my creations. My background in graphic design deeply influences my work, with a strong emphasis on composition and color that ensures each piece is visually compelling. There’s a playful energy woven throughout my art, and when paired with thoughtful design elements, it creates dynamic, engaging works that captivate and draw you in. Whether for wedding stationery or fine art, I am dedicated to crafting pieces that are both beautiful and meaningful.
